The colours used in the 2002 film Hero directed Zhang are symbolic and specific political message, the colour is also considered 'significant' in all scenes as it is based on mood.

The Colour Theory:
RED - Dominates first version of the story by Nameless, where he describes the calligraphy school, the attack in the Qin army ,the stabbing of broken sword and the fight between Flying Snow and Moon.

Green- This is the colour of the story that Nameless isn't too sure of. This covers the first meeting between Broken Sword and Flying Snow, this is also the scene of the failed assassination attempt. Health, prosperity and harmony.
White-- This is the final colour, dominating both the deaths of Flying Snow and Broken Sword and alternating between the colour black in the palace. White is also the colour of mourning clothes in Asia, whereas in the Western Culture Black is the mourning clothes.
